About Us
After 30 years of practicing in a variety of firms, most recently for 12 years as the senior IP partner in the Palo Alto office of a large international full service firm, Edward Bachand launched Intellectual Innovations Legal Advisors in January 2014. The firm specializes in intellectual property law, and works with innovators in a variety of environments, most often with entrepreneurs and emerging companies.
Mr. Bachand’s practice is directed toward counseling clients in all areas of patent, trademark and copyright law. His legal expertise and business acumen have assisted many clients in achieving favorable results.
Mr. Bachand regularly partners with a wide variety of clients to strategically manage intellectual property portfolios, prosecute patent and trademark applications, provide opinions directed toward patent infringement and validity, conduct due diligence on IP portfolios, and negotiate and prepare license and other intellectual property agreements. He also assists clients in reexamination, reissue, interference and opposition proceedings.
His patent prosecution experience in the field of medical devices is significant. Successes include numerous cases involving cardiovascular, urologic, endoscopic, laparoscopic, gynecologic, dermatologic, orthopedic, neurologic, ophthalmologic, radio frequency, microwave, ultrasonic and optic devices, as well as methods involving a variety of diagnostic and treatment modalities.
He has also represented clients in the areas of optically variable thin film devices, semiconductor processing equipment, semiconductor packaging, data storage systems, microelectromechanical devices, tunable lasers and filters, telecommunications equipment and software, smart materials, microfluidics, power systems, integrated circuits, electrical devices, networked storage systems, thermal electric devices, solar collectors, fuel cells, downhole drilling tools, mechanical equipment and devices, enterprise software, mobile applications, data loss prevention software, data transmission software, video analysis software, digital health, information technology, robotics and artificial intelligence.
